General infos

The phone numbers are preceeded by the country code (39 for Italy and 33 for France). The Italian phone numbers are also preeceded by an area code that has to be used unless the number is dialled locally.

When dialing abroad from Italy dial 00 followed by the country code, area code and phone number. Most phone booths in Italy accept change or handy calling cards that can be puchased in newsstands and most general stores.

When dialing abroad from France dial 00 followed by the country code, area code and phone number. French public phones accept only calling cards.

To do a long-distance national phone call in Italy, dial 0 then the area code indicated in the list. Example: to call the somewhere in the Susa Valley from Turin dial 0122 xxxxxx.
